Singapore travel guide

Build a Singapore stay around good meals, walkable districts and the paid sights that matter to you.

THE SHORT VERSION
  • SGD 29 buys a three-day Tourist Pass; a walking-heavy visit deserves a pay-as-you-go comparison first. 1
  • Three days: Chinatown and the Civic District; Little India and Kampong Gelam; then gardens, art or Mandai.
  • SGD 20 buys National Gallery general admission for standard overseas visitors; all-access is a separate tier. 2
  • Six months of passport validity and the free three-day arrival-card window are the first entry checks for foreign visitors. 3

Start at Maxwell Food Centre on Kadayanallur Street, then walk Chinatown’s temple streets before an afternoon in the Civic District. 4, 5 This guide gives you two walking days, a choice of gardens, art or wildlife for day three, and the fares and tickets to price them from one hotel base.

The official Little India Walk of Faiths is only 2.6 km, but its 11 stops give a morning a shape. Leave room around that walk for Tekka and an unhurried meal. Singapore rewards a plan with a few firm anchors and space between them. 6

Where should you stay in Singapore?

Start with Bugis or City Hall for three full days. Bugis joins the East-West and Downtown lines; City Hall joins the East-West and North-South lines. Chinatown has the Downtown and North East lines, while Little India shares the latter two. These stations give you useful starting points for comparing hotel addresses. 13

For the route below, choose Bugis if Little India and Kampong Gelam are your main draw. Choose City Hall if you want to put the Civic District at the centre of each day. Chinatown suits a trip built around food stops and temple streets. Keep the same room throughout a short visit; moving luggage between these bases gains little sightseeing time.

Suggested bases for this route; station connections from the official precinct map. 13

Little India offers named hotel starting points: Singapore Tourism Board lists Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon and Wanderlust. The latter occupies a building from the 1920s near Little India and Bugis stations. Use them to compare the location you want, then price the room type and dates you will actually book. 14

A hotel marked Bugis can still put your room on the wrong side of your daily route. Plot its entrance, your chosen station and the first stop of each morning. For this trip, a room that makes the return from Kampong Gelam simple can be worth more than a view you will enjoy only after dark. Compare the whole stay before paying for that view.

  • Three nights: plan two full walking days and treat the arrival or departure day as a short extra.
  • Four nights: use three full days for Chinatown and the Civic District, Little India and Kampong Gelam, then one major attraction.
  • Five nights: separate the bayfront from the museums and give Mandai its own day if wildlife matters.

Count usable mornings, not just hotel nights. A late arrival followed by an early flight leaves very different room for Singapore than a morning arrival and evening departure. Put the mosque visit and any fixed attraction slot on the calendar first. Fit the neighborhood walks around those anchors, with one open evening for a meal that runs longer than expected.

Adding another country after Singapore? The MMT travel index is the next browsing stop. Set aside a transfer day and price that destination’s entry requirements before extending this four-night plan.

Do you need a visa or an arrival card?

The SG Arrival Card is free, and separate from a visa. As of 28 September 2026, foreign passport holders need six months of validity. Submit within three days including arrival. Airside transit without immigration clearance is exempt. Bring onward travel evidence and funds. 3

ICA requires entry visas for, among others, Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Russian travel documents. Ordinary US, UK, Australian and Canadian passports are absent from its visa-required list. Other documents, including refugee travel documents, have separate rules. Use the ICA document list for your passport type before buying a non-refundable fare. 15

Your electronic Visit Pass sets your last permitted day in Singapore. Visa validity and permission to stay are different periods. ICA sends the e-Pass digitally, so give an email address you can open while travelling. Travellers who need a visa should arrange it before the border; ICA does not take visa applications at immigration counters. 15

Yellow fever rules depend on recent travel: a valid certificate is required after visiting a risk country within the previous six days, including airport transit there exceeding 12 hours. Short-Term Visit Pass holders also face restrictions on business, professional and paid employment activities. A holiday admission alone gives no general permission to work. 3

A Singapore stopover deserves the same entry planning as a longer stay. Leaving Changi for a meal or a city walk means crossing immigration, even if your next flight leaves that evening. For a tight connection, keep the airport return ahead of an extra neighborhood on your wish list. A second food stop is easy to drop; a missed onward flight is harder to repair.

How do you get from Changi to your hotel?

Pick the city-bound connection before boarding. From Changi Airport station, change at Tanah Merah for the East-West Line towards Tuas Link, or at Expo for the Downtown Line towards Bukit Panjang. The airport publishes first departures at 05:31 Monday to Saturday and 05:59 on Sundays and public holidays. The last connection towards Tuas Link leaves Changi at 23:18. 16

  1. Clear arrival formalities

Keep the hotel address and onward booking together with your passport details. After immigration, collect checked bags before committing to a city departure. Make the first journey a hotel transfer; carrying luggage around Chinatown or Little India turns a short walk into a chore.

  2. Choose the line for your base

For City Hall, change at Tanah Merah for the westbound East-West Line. That route also serves Bugis. The Expo alternative serves Downtown Line bases. Match the hotel address to its station before boarding. 13

  3. Set up one transit payment method

Take one eligible contactless card out of your wallet. Tap in and out with the same card or the same mobile device and wallet; switching between a phone and its linked physical card can create separate charges. SimplyGo account registration is optional for using a bank card. 7

  4. Drop bags, then make a small first outing

For a Bugis base, save Kampong Gelam for the first walk if energy allows. From Chinatown, use the local food-centre plan below. Leave the first timed museum or conservatory ticket for a full day, when a late flight or slow baggage delivery will have less effect.

On 28 September 2026, Changi quotes roughly SGD 25-45 and 30 minutes for a metered taxi to the city. Its page separately lists an airport surcharge of SGD 8 from 17:00 to 23:59, otherwise SGD 6. A 50% midnight surcharge applies from 00:00 to 05:59; peak-period surcharges are 25%. Treat the quoted range as a guide, not an all-in ceiling. 16

A late flight is a good reason to budget for the door-to-door option. Compare it for the whole group and luggage load. For an early daytime arrival, the train lets you begin with the same system you will use for sightseeing. Save the hotel map before leaving the terminal so the last walk remains simple if your phone connection drops.

Is the Singapore Tourist Pass worth it?

Start with pay-as-you-go for this walking route. On 28 September 2026, the ordinary adult MRT/LRT card schedule runs from SGD 1.28 for up to 3.2 km to SGD 2.57 above 40.2 km. These are distance bands, not advertised fares between named stations. The tariff took effect on 27 December 2025. 17

Foreign contactless Mastercard and Visa add SGD 0.60 per transit day, plus issuer charges. Eligible foreign American Express cards also work. A bank card avoids buying a separate transit card. 7

The Tourist Pass covers MRT, LRT and basic buses. It excludes Sentosa Express, RWS8, M2 Khatib Bus, express buses and other premium services. The first day ends with that service day; it is not a rolling 24 hours. There are no child or senior concessions, and the pass is non-refundable. 1

On the Chinatown day below, much of the point is walking between stops. Paying for unlimited rides gives less benefit when you spend the morning on foot and the afternoon inside one museum. Bugis also makes the Little India and Kampong Gelam sequence easy to arrange without repeated returns to your hotel. Buy flexibility only when your actual route uses it.

Three transit days using a foreign Mastercard or Visa add SGD 1.80 in admin fees. The SGD 29 pass breaks even at SGD 27.20 in rides, before issuer charges. 7, 1

LTA puts normal train service at about 05:30 to midnight. It gives typical gaps of two to three minutes during the morning peak and five to seven minutes off-peak. Use station-specific last trains for evening plans; the broad network span is too loose for a final airport connection. 8

For a longer stay, record two days of rides before choosing a pass. Separate transit admin fees from your bank’s exchange and cash-machine charges. For broader money reading, continue to the MMT money section after pricing the Singapore fares above.

Day one: Chinatown to the Civic District

Begin with streets and lunch, then choose one museum. Chinatown brings together Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum, Sri Mariamman Temple and Masjid Jamae. Singapore Tourism Board also identifies murals by Yip Yew Chong in the neighborhood. Give yourself time to notice the subjects of the murals and the different institutions along the route. 5

From Chinatown station, make Smith Street your first stop for shops and eateries, then continue to Sri Mariamman Temple and Buddha Tooth Relic Temple before lunch at Maxwell. The tourism board identifies each as a Chinatown stop. This suggested sequence keeps the morning in one district; entry to places of worship follows their visitor rules. 5

Maxwell Food Centre is at 1 Kadayanallur Street; Chinatown Complex Market & Hawker Centre is at Block 335 Smith Street. They are separate food centres. Choose one for lunch and keep the other as an alternative, instead of promising yourself two full meals in the same short stretch of the day. 4, 18

Former City Hall, now part of National Gallery Singapore, starts the shortest Civic District trail. Singapore’s first fully elected government was sworn into office here in 1959. 19

From former City Hall, the Journey to Nationhood route looks across to the Padang, then continues to former Parliament House, now The Arts House. Follow it to Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall, then Esplanade Park. Look for the Cenotaph and Lim Bo Seng Memorial before taking the Anderson Bridge underpass to the Asian Civilisations Museum in the former Empress Place Building. 19

  • Art first: shorten Chinatown after lunch and make National Gallery the afternoon anchor.
  • Food first: allow a longer lunch and take the shortest Civic District loop before the evening.
  • Walking first: choose the 2.2 km route and leave the conservatories for another day.

Day two: Little India and Kampong Gelam

Follow the Walk of Faiths, then take a proper lunch break. The National Heritage Board’s Little India trail covers 2.6 km, 11 points and an estimated hour of walking. It starts at Abdul Gafoor Mosque on Dunlop Street, then reaches the Church of the True Light and other religious sites. This is a useful spine for a morning, with extra time for stops. 6

Along the route, Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple began as a shrine built by Tamil workers from local lime pits. The trail connects institutions across several religious communities. Read the names and histories as you go; Little India’s streets tell more than a single story about who has lived and worshipped here. 6

Tekka Market, at Block 665 Buffalo Road, makes a clear meal pin for this day. Keep it as a separate stop in your plan, rather than counting a food break inside the trail’s one-hour estimate. If you begin near Tekka, return for lunch only if it suits your direction and appetite. 18

The tourism board points food lovers to Banana Leaf Apolo on Race Course Road for South Indian food, including fish head curry, and Podi & Poriyal for vegetarian fare. These give you a seated-restaurant alternative to the market plan. Choose the style of meal you want before filling the afternoon with another walk. 14

Little India to Bugis is a direct Downtown Line journey. From Bugis, make Kampong Gelam your afternoon district. The tourism board’s precinct map offers two-hour and four-hour options. Use the shorter version after a full Little India morning; give the longer version its own half-day if shops, food and streets are your main interest. 13, 20

Arab Street, Bussorah Street and Haji Lane give the Kampong Gelam walk three distinct threads. The precinct map describes Arab Street’s textile trade, Bussorah Street’s earlier workshops and Haji Lane’s connection to pilgrims travelling to Mecca. Read that history alongside the shops you see, and leave room for a slow browse after the mosque visit. 20

Sultan Mosque in Kampong Gelam, Singapore

As of 28 September 2026, Sultan Mosque accepts walk-in visits Saturday to Thursday, 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00; Friday is closed to walk-in visitors. Enter at Gate 5 facing Bussorah Street. Robes are limited. Men should wear sleeved tops and long trousers; women should wear long sleeves and ankle-length bottoms. Remove footwear and follow staff directions. 21

The 14:00-16:00 window makes the mosque the first afternoon anchor, with the rest of Kampong Gelam afterward. On Friday, switch these two neighborhood days if entering the mosque matters to you. If it is mainly the streets and an evening meal you want, keep Friday and plan around the exterior, with worshippers’ access taking priority.

How do hawker meals fit the trip?

Use a food centre as the meal destination, then choose a stall. Maxwell suits the Chinatown day; Tekka suits Little India; Chinatown Complex gives you a second option near the first day’s walk. This keeps eating part of the route instead of adding a separate journey for every dish. Let the available stalls decide the exact meal once you arrive.

UNESCO added Singapore’s hawker culture to its intangible cultural heritage list in 2020. Its description centres community dining and the everyday exchange around food. The recognition belongs to that living practice, not to one famous stall. A meal at an ordinary shared table is part of the experience the inscription describes. 23

NEA publishes centre closure dates for cleaning and maintenance. A centre being open also leaves each stall’s hours to its operator. Plan a choice of meals within Maxwell or Tekka, then use the NEA closure schedule shortly before the visit to avoid arriving on a full-centre closure day. 24

At Maxwell, walk one circuit before joining a queue. Read the portion choices and decide whether a drink or side is a separate purchase. With two people, choose a meeting table before splitting up to order. With children, make the first food order simple and let further dishes follow once everyone has somewhere to sit.

At Tekka, a meal and a browsing stop compete for the same morning. Give lunch its own slot if you intend to continue to Kampong Gelam. Carry a small cash backup for the stall you choose, without making the whole day depend on one payment method. For allergies, show the ingredient name and seek a clear answer before ordering.

Clear your used trays, crockery and litter when you finish. NEA’s table-clearing rule applies at hawker centres, coffeeshops and food courts. Find the return point before leaving the table, and follow the signs for the appropriate return area. Sharing the space well makes it easier for the next diners to sit down. 25

During April-September 2026, drinks with the BCRS deposit mark carry a refundable SGD 0.10 deposit; unmarked stock is outside the refund scheme. From 1 October, all regulated containers must carry the mark. Eligible plastic and metal containers are 150 ml to 3 litres. Keep them empty and uncrushed for the return machine. 26

How much do Singapore attractions cost?

Choose the experience before adding tickets. The comparison below uses standard adult visitor prices checked on 28 September 2026. It helps you see which extra admission changes your spending most. Each product buys something different, so choose the Gallery for art, the conservatories for a garden visit, the Zoo for wildlife or SkyPark for the elevated view.

[4] Non-residents; includes tram and 9% GST. All four prices exclude transport, food and separate attractions. Child rates, concessions and October exceptions follow below.

National Gallery general admission covers selected exhibitions and tours; all-access costs SGD 30 and covers all galleries. Singapore citizens and permanent residents get free general admission. Eligible concessions receive SGD 5 off, including children aged 7-12 and seniors aged 60 or over, with verification. Pick the exhibition first so you buy the right ticket tier. 2

The Gardens combination covers Flower Dome and Cloud Forest featuring Jurassic World: The Experience. The non-resident child price, ages 3-12, is SGD 32. OCBC Skyway and Supertree Observatory cost SGD 14 each for a non-resident adult and are separate purchases. Adding both changes the adult total from SGD 46 to SGD 74. 28

SkyPark’s normal adult peak ticket is SGD 39 from 17:00-22:00. The deck closes on 9 October 2026; the 10-11 October evening event rate is SGD 46, with hours to 22:30 and last entry 21:30. The ticket covers the deck, with no hotel Infinity Pool or CÉ LA VI access. Rain or lightning can interrupt visits. 27

At Singapore Zoo, the non-resident child ticket is SGD 34 for ages 3-12. Children under three enter free with an admission-holding adult over 21. The included tram is inside the attraction; the journey from your hotel remains separate. Buy the Zoo ticket for a Zoo day rather than assuming it covers other Mandai parks. 29

For two adults, the four tickets in the chart total SGD 300 before transport and meals. National Gallery plus the conservatories totals SGD 132 for the pair. That SGD 168 difference is the cost of adding both the deck and Zoo at these rates. Decide whether those two experiences deserve their own time before buying them as part of a longer list.

An evening walk at Gardens by the Bay

Walk from the lake to the Supertrees. Arrive at Bayfront station on the Circle or Downtown line. Exit B leads through an underground linkway; cross Dragonfly Bridge into the Gardens. Meadow Bridge is another entrance option. 31

  1. Start beside Dragonfly Lake. Its 440 m boardwalk is free to visit; the lake plants and filtration features help clean water used in the Gardens. Look for the binoculars to see dragonflies among the plants. 32
  2. Continue to Supertree Grove, where 12 of the Gardens’ 18 Supertrees carry vertical plantings of ferns, orchids and other species. Ground-level admission is free. 33
  3. Stay at the Grove for Garden Rhapsody. The operator lists nightly shows at 19:45 and 20:45 as of 28 September 2026. Then return towards Dragonfly Bridge and Bayfront. This is a suggested outdoor sequence, separate from the conservatory visit. 33, 31

Flower Dome and Cloud Forest normally open 09:00-21:00; last admission is 20:30 and 20:00 respectively. Their October 2026 maintenance closures fall on 6 October for Flower Dome and 26 October for Cloud Forest. Satay by the Bay closes from 1 October 2026 for redevelopment, so make a different dinner plan. 34

For a conservatory day, book the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest combination described above, then follow the outdoor sequence afterwards. For an evening-only visit, the lake and ground-level Grove give you two specific stops without a conservatory ticket. The OCBC Skyway and Supertree Observatory are separate paid additions; neither is needed for this walk. 28, 32, 33

The lake area and Supertree Grove publish daily hours of 05:00-02:00; the Supertree lights switch off at 23:30. That late outdoor closing time is separate from rail service. Use your station’s last departure when planning the return to Bugis or City Hall. 32, 33

Use the third day for Mandai or a guided walk

Mandai deserves a separate day in a short stay. Take the North-South Line to Khatib station, then M2 Khatib Bus from Exit A to Mandai Wildlife EAST for the Zoo. The operator gives about 20 minutes for the bus leg. Its first departure from Khatib is 08:30, with buses generally every 15 minutes. 35

As checked on 28 September 2026, M2 costs SGD 2.50 each way for adults and children aged 7-12; under-sevens ride free. Contactless payment is required, with cash excluded. Travel between Mandai attractions on the bus is free, but the trip from Khatib and the return there are chargeable. 35, 36

Culture Curious private walk [2]From 400 per group

[1] Non-resident adult: 49 admission plus 5 return bus; MRT and meals extra. [2] Four hours for 1-4 people; guide, central hotel or port pickup and public transport included. Food, paid attractions, cultural activities and private transport extra unless arranged. Custom additions change the final quote.

Leave the Zoo evening free when you first plan the trip. A full wildlife day followed by a fixed central dinner makes the return journey a deadline. If you finish early, you can still choose a meal near your base. If you stay longer, the day remains intact without losing a second booking.

For a guided introduction instead, Culture Curious offers a private Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India walk from SGD 400 per group of one to four people for four hours. It includes an English-speaking guide, central hotel or port pickup and public transport. Food, paid attractions, cultural activities and private transport are extra unless arranged. 37

At the starting price, four people divide the tour cost into SGD 100 each; two divide it into SGD 200 each. Choose the guide when questions, context and adapting the walk to your group are worth that amount. The self-guided days above work better if everyone wants to stop at different shops or linger over separate meals.

Put a paid neighborhood walk early in the stay if you book one. It can help you decide which district deserves a return visit, while the remaining days stay open for your own pace. Avoid booking the same three-district route after already following both self-guided days unless you specifically want a deeper second look.

When should you walk, and when should you go indoors?

Build an indoor choice into each walking day. Singapore’s weather service describes rain throughout the year, with November-January wetter and February the driest month in its climate record. Its Changi baseline averages 171 rain days a year. These patterns favour a flexible daily sequence over trying to find a completely dry travel season. 10

For Chinatown and the Civic District, start with whichever outdoor stretch matters most to you. Keep National Gallery as the indoor anchor. For Little India and Kampong Gelam, protect the mosque visiting window and shorten the street loop if rain takes part of the afternoon. One successful district visit is better than two rushed ones with no meal break.

Inter-monsoon thunderstorms often form in the afternoon and early evening. Use the weather service forecast before choosing a long exposed walk or a paid view. A forecast can help you move the sequence; the month alone gives little precision about the hour you will be at the bay. 10

PUB says Singapore tap water is suitable to drink directly without extra filtration. Carrying a refillable bottle is a practical choice for the Little India and Civic District walks. Top it up before leaving your hotel, rather than making a drink purchase the first task of each morning. 9

NEA identifies May-October as the traditional peak dengue season and advises mosquito-bite prevention. Use repellent according to its label and look at current cluster information for the area where you are staying. The season is a reason to prepare, not a reason to skip every outdoor stop in Singapore. 39

  • Wet Chinatown morning: shorten the street loop, keep lunch and move to the Gallery.
  • Wet bayfront evening: shift the outdoor walk to the spare day and use the existing indoor booking if it remains open.
  • Tired Little India group: keep Tekka and a small stretch of the trail, then choose either Kampong Gelam or a rest at the hotel.

For step-free travel or a slower pace, use the actual entrance of each stop when planning. The 550 m Civic District option gives you a smaller walking commitment than the full 2.6 km Little India route. Reserve the right to cut a loop before beginning it, so the last person in the group has the same chance to enjoy the next stop.

Two itineraries you can copy

Keep one hotel and vary the days around it. The four-night version gives you three full days without relying on arrival day for a major sight. The two-night version keeps the two central neighborhood sequences and drops Mandai. These are suggested trip shapes; the nights belong to one base, not a chain of hotel moves.

Arrival evening: settle in and have a meal near the hotel. Day one: Chinatown, one food centre and the Civic District, with a bay walk if energy holds. Day two: Little India, Tekka and Kampong Gelam, timed around Sultan Mosque. Day three: choose Mandai, the conservatories or a museum-focused day. Keep the final dinner near your base so departure packing stays simple.

→ Changi MRT via Tanah Merah or Expo on arrival; walk and use MRT for central days; Khatib plus M2 for Mandai.

With less time: With one fewer night, keep the two neighborhood days and drop the separate Mandai day. If the conservatories are your priority, shorten the Civic District plan to make room for them instead of adding another full evening.

Use your best full day for Chinatown, lunch and a short Civic District walk. Pick one paid sight according to your main interest. Use the remaining half-day for Little India or Kampong Gelam, choosing the district closest to the meal and visiting window you want. Keep airport travel separate from the last sightseeing block so a long lunch has an easy cut point.

→ Use the MRT between central districts and your base; retain a taxi option for a departure outside convenient train hours.

With less time: With only one night, choose one neighborhood and one main sight. Leave the second district for another visit; a Singapore stopover can be satisfying without covering the whole central map.

Once your hotel nights and Singapore tickets are set, browse the MMT article index for further reading. Keep any onward journey separate from the two-night plan so airport travel has its own time on the calendar.

Money, shopping and practical help

Keep the hotel, meals and optional tickets as separate costs. All prices here are in Singapore dollars, SGD. Add your actual room quote for the full stay, then the admissions and transport you have chosen. Food remains a choice at the stall or restaurant. That produces a usable trip total without pretending one daily allowance fits every visitor.

As of 28 September 2026, eligible tourist shopping refunds start at SGD 100 including GST from participating retailers. Up to three same-day receipts with the same shop name and GST registration can count together. Show your original passport and e-Pass at purchase. Hotel stays, services and goods consumed in Singapore are excluded; handling fees reduce the refund. 40

You must be at least 16, neither a Singapore citizen nor permanent resident, and not crew on the departing aircraft. Specified work, dependant, long-term visit or student pass holders, and specified diplomatic-card holders, are excluded on purchase and claim dates and during the three months before purchase. Apply through the airport eTRS kiosk. 40

Take the goods out through Changi or Seletar within two months of purchase and within 12 hours of refund approval. Claim the approved refund within two months of approval. A shopping refund is therefore a departure task for eligible goods, not a discount to subtract from your hotel or food total. 40

Can I submit the arrival card a week ahead?

For a Monday arrival, submit from Saturday. On an overnight flight, use the Singapore arrival date, not the day you leave home. 3

Can I tap in with my phone and out with its bank card?

Keep the same card, wallet and device at both ends. SimplyGo can charge mixed payment modes as separate transactions, even when a phone and physical card link to the same bank account. 7

Does the Tourist Pass cover the bus from Khatib to the Zoo?

M2 is excluded. An adult return between Khatib and Mandai costs SGD 5, on top of any uncovered rail fare. Travel between Mandai attractions on the bus is free. 1, 36

Which day works for a walk-in visit to Sultan Mosque?

Saturday through Thursday fits the published visitor schedule. Friday is closed to walk-in visitors. For a Little India morning followed by Kampong Gelam, aim for the afternoon window before continuing with the rest of the neighborhood. 21

What if Maxwell closes for cleaning on my Chinatown day?

Use Chinatown Complex as the second named meal option, subject to its own closure schedule. Keep the Chinatown walk in place and change the food stop. NEA lists centre closures; each stall still sets its own operating hours. 24, 18

Is the SkyPark ticket a way to use the Infinity Pool?

The observation ticket buys deck access. The Infinity Pool is reserved for hotel guests, and CÉ LA VI entry is separate. Choose the deck for the view itself; a pool visit needs a different booking decision. 27

Are the Zoo child ticket and M2 child fare based on the same ages?

The Zoo child ticket covers ages 3-12, while M2 charges children aged 7-12. A five-year-old therefore needs Zoo admission but rides M2 free. Keep the park admission and bus fare as separate lines when adding a family total. 29, 35

Can I make a museum visit after dinner?

Peranakan Museum’s Friday hours extend to 21:00, compared with 19:00 on other days. An early dinner followed by that visit is a compact alternative to another outdoor evening. Leave enough of the opening window for the galleries you want. 38

Is three days enough without visiting Mandai?

Yes for the central route proposed here. Give one day to Chinatown and the Civic District, one to Little India and Kampong Gelam, and one to the Gardens or museums. Mandai is an optional wildlife day, so dropping it leaves a coherent city visit.

What changes if I visit in early October 2026?

Early October brings Gardens maintenance, a SkyPark closure and the announced History Gallery reopening. Use the dated notices in the attraction sections to order your days, then leave one flexible slot for a weather-dependent view.
