Brazil travel guide
Plan beach days in Rio, a meal in Salvador or a trip to Iguaçu, with routes, named places to stay and prices you can use.
- Give a first trip 10 nights and two bases. Pair Rio with Salvador, or Rio with Foz do Iguaçu. Manaus and a lodge on the Tarumã River make a separate 7-night trip. 1
- US, Canadian and Australian passports need an eVisa; British citizen passports do not. The eVisa requirement returned on 10 April 2025, and the US fee is USD 80.90; British citizens get up to 90 days for tourism. 2, 3
- Sugarloaf's cable car costs BRL 205 unless you can prove a discount. Visitors aged 60 and over, of any nationality, and children aged 3 to 12 pay BRL 102. 4
- Rio's metro is BRL 7.90 a ride, and a contactless Visa, Mastercard or Elo card works at the gate. Santos Dumont airport to Copacabana by VLT and metro is BRL 12.90 in fares. 5, 6
- Book Iguaçu and MASP online before you go. Iguaçu sells dated, timed tickets only online, from BRL 131 for non-Mercosur visitors. MASP is free all day Tuesday and from 18:00 on Friday, and still needs a booking. 7, 8, 9

Start in Salvador’s Pelourinho, where a day can bring Afro-Brazilian art at MUNCAB and a meal of moqueca. 10 Or give Rio a week with time for both the beach and the city. This guide helps you choose two bases, price key outings and get from the airport to your room. Pick the trip that sounds good to you, then use the routes below to make it fit your days.

Where should you go on a first trip to Brazil?
Start with the day you most want to have. Rio has Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Tijuca Forest and art in the port district. 19 In Salvador, start with Pelourinho, the Lacerda elevator and MUNCAB, the Museum of Afro-Brazilian Culture. 10 Give each city time beyond its best-known view. Choose a place where you want to spend a whole day, even with no ticket booked.
| Base | Main draw |
|---|---|
| Rio de Janeiro | Beaches, art, Tijuca Forest |
| Salvador | Pelourinho, food, Afro-Brazilian arts |
| São Paulo | MASP, markets, performances |
| Foz do Iguaçu | Falls and Atlantic Forest |
| Manaus | River trips and forest lodges |
| Pantanal | Wetlands and wildlife interests |
MMT suggests pairing two contrasting bases. Keep Rio outdoor days flexible; give Salvador meals and museums their own time. Check São Paulo programs first. Protect a full Iguaçu park day. Book lodge transfers with the stay; choose a Pantanal operator and location before flights.
For a Rio art day, choose the Museum of Tomorrow and the Museum of Art of Rio in Porto Maravilha. The tiled Escadaria Selarón is in Lapa. 19 Choose one area for each outing. Put a beach morning on a different day if you would otherwise spend lunch in transit. Check each venue’s own hours before you set off.
São Paulo is a good choice for an art-led trip. Start with MASP, the Pinacoteca or Ibirapuera Park. Visit Brasil also links Liberdade to Japanese immigration and Afro-Brazilian memory. 20 Read about the area before you go. Pick one collection you want to spend time with, then leave the rest of the day open for a meal or a walk.
Choosing between Brazil and another first South American trip? The Colombia travel guide sets out routes, costs and entry the same way.
When is the best time to visit Brazil?
Choose the region before the month. The Amazon stays hot and humid all year. Southern Brazil can have cold winters and frost. Visit Brasil highlights the Pantanal’s dry season for wildlife viewing. 17 Pack for the stops on your route. A trip that pairs the south with the Amazon needs more thought than a single beach stay.
| Region | Seasonal signal |
|---|---|
| South / Southeast | Rain: November to March |
| Northeast | Rain: April to July |
| Amazon | Hot and humid year-round |
| Pantanal | Dry season for wildlife viewing |
| South | Winter cold and frost possible |
Checked 24 September 2026. The rain periods are FCDO’s broad guidance; heavy rain also occurs outside them. Keep an indoor option for city and coast days. Ask lodges about local access and activities. Pack warm layers for southern winter stops. Check local alerts before travel.
Three routes with time to settle in
Count nights before attractions. These are MMT route ideas. Keep transfer days light, and choose flights before rooms. Check which airport each flight uses, its baggage terms and the time left after you reach the hotel. Reverse the route if that fits your flights better. For one week, choose a city stay or the focused Amazon route; save a third base for a longer trip.
- 01Rio de Janeiro5 nights
Give beaches and city outings separate days, with room to move an outdoor plan. Use one afternoon for an art or cultural venue. 19
→ Compare flights to Salvador for your dates; check the airports, baggage terms and door-to-door journey before committing. - 02Salvador, Bahia4 nights
Start with Pelourinho and MUNCAB, then leave time for meals and the interests you discover there. 10
→ Position for your international departure using a confirmed flight itinerary. Keep the final night in the departure city. - 03International departure city1 night
Make the last evening simple: pack, eat nearby and confirm the airport journey.
→ Depart on the booked international flight.
With less time: With 7 nights, choose one main city and allow a slower stay. If your international flight leaves Salvador, merge the final night there rather than inventing an extra transfer.
- 01Rio de Janeiro6 nights
Give the city enough time that the trip still feels settled after adding a second base.
→ Compare flights to Foz do Iguaçu, including any connection and the airport-to-hotel journey. - 02Foz do Iguaçu3 nights
Reserve the Brazilian park visit for a day without a flight. Keep another day flexible instead of making every hour depend on the first arrival. 7
→ Return to the city of your international departure on a confirmed itinerary. - 03International departure city1 night
Leave a buffer between the park stay and the flight home.
→ Depart after the final overnight stop.
With less time: With less time, shorten Rio only after protecting the park day and your departure buffer. Remove the second base if the available flights consume too much of the trip.
- 01Manaus2 nights
Settle in and choose a city visit, such as Teatro Amazonas or Adolpho Lisboa market. 21
→ Use the lodge's confirmed pickup arrangement, with its meeting point and baggage instructions saved offline. - 02Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge, subject to booking4 nights
Ask this lodge on the Tarumã River for a four-night stay. 1 MMT suggests that length to give walks and river outings room in the week. Agree on the exact program and number of nights before paying.
→ Confirm the lodge’s return transfer and spend the final night in Manaus. - 03Manaus1 night
Keep the flight departure separate from the lodge return.
→ Fly onward according to your booked itinerary.
With less time: With fewer nights, shorten the city stay only if the confirmed arrival and lodge transfer fit comfortably. Keep the final buffer.
For the Rio and Salvador route, give each city a different role. Use Rio for beach time and one city art day; make Salvador the food and culture stop. Pack once for each move. If the flight choices leave only a short evening in Salvador on arrival, start its sightseeing the next morning. The four-night stay gives you three full days without counting the flight day as a bonus.
Iguaçu, the Amazon or the Pantanal?
Choose the kind of nature trip you want. Iguaçu centers on waterfalls within Atlantic Forest; Manaus opens onto river and forest trips; the Pantanal is a freshwater wetland region. These are different environments and different ways to spend your days. Read the UNESCO Iguaçu description and Pantanal description when deciding which draws you most. 22, 21, 23

Buy Iguaçu tickets through the park’s online booking page. Places are limited and tickets have a date and time. Each visitor needs a ticket and photo ID. 7 Choose your visitor category before checking the total. Save the ticket where you can open it at the gate, and keep the park day clear of flights.
The falls extend across the Brazil-Argentina boundary, with national parks on both sides. 22 The Brazilian park's ticket site lists the Argentine park's ticket separately; the Argentine park handles it, and it covers only Argentina's Iguazú National Park. 8 Treat the Argentine side as its own day, and check entry, the return to Brazil and transport before you book it.
Near Manaus, the Negro and Solimões meet at the Meeting of the Waters. 21 For a named lodge to compare, Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge sits on the Tarumã River, a Rio Negro tributary. Its access plan uses road transport to Marina Águas Claras and a boat leg. 1 Ask for a pickup tied to your hotel or flight, and allow time to change vehicles with your bags.
- Ask for the exact lodge location and the full transfer sequence, including the return meeting point.
- Request a written list of included meals, guiding, equipment and excursions before comparing offers.
- Describe any mobility, dietary or medical needs before paying, and ask what happens if conditions change the program.
- Choose wildlife observation that keeps animals free to move; decline handling or baiting arranged for a photograph.
At Amazon Ecopark, the package page lists road and boat transfers in both directions, forest walks and canoe outings. 24 Request a dated quote with the nights, meals and outings written out. Choose activities that suit your group. Ask to skip any stop you are uncomfortable with, including animal-feeding visits, and agree on the revised program before you book.
Eat by place, and make room for culture
Let meals belong to the city you are in. In Salvador, Visit Brasil points to moqueca and vatapá, acarajé from street vendors, and restaurants around Pelourinho, Santo Antônio Além do Carmo and Rio Vermelho. Pick a meal near the day's main outing, then leave enough time to ask what is being served. 10
Acarajé is made from black-eyed peas and fried in dendê oil; fillings can include vatapá, caruru and dried shrimp. IPHAN recognizes the Ofício das Baianas de Acarajé as cultural heritage. Its account describes a living practice maintained largely by women, with culinary knowledge and religious meaning. The people preparing it are practitioners and business owners. 25
In Manaus, Adolpho Lisboa market introduces another set of ingredients: tambaqui, tucunaré and pirarucu, alongside fruits such as cupuaçu, açaí and graviola. Use these names as starting points for a conversation about the day's dishes, preparation and portion size. 21
São Paulo offers a different food-and-culture plan. Visit Brasil lists the Municipal Market, street markets including Liberdade and Praça Benedito Calixto, and performance venues such as SESC Pompeia and Sala São Paulo. Check the city's official overview to choose an area, then confirm the current program with the venue. 20
In Pelourinho, Pelô Bistrô gives you a named lunch stop at Rua das Portas do Carmo, 6. Its posted hours are 11:00-15:00 and 18:00-21:00 daily, checked 24 September 2026. 26 Put lunch between outings so you can sit down without rushing. Ask about portion size when ordering for two; a shared dish and two single portions can have different prices.
| Dish and portion | BRL |
|---|---|
| Plantain moqueca, one person | 89 |
| Fish moqueca, one person | 109 |
| Fish moqueca, two people | 209 |
Menu prices, no currency conversion. Drinks, dessert and optional 10% service are extra. These are one restaurant’s prices; confirm the current menu when booking. See the meal calculation below.
For two people sharing the fish moqueca, the listed dish is BRL 209. With the menu’s optional 10% service, that becomes BRL 229.90, or BRL 114.95 each before drinks or dessert. 27 Use that as one seated-meal example in Salvador. For other meals, choose actual menus near your stops so your food budget reflects how you want to eat.
Do you need a visa for Brazil?
Check the passport you will actually use. Start with the consular information linked by Visit Brasil. Ask the relevant Brazilian consulate which rules apply to you. 12 Do this before buying travel you would lose money to change. Check each person in a group, even when you share the same flight and hotel booking.
Since 10 April 2025, US, Canadian and Australian passports have needed a visa for tourism in Brazil, applied for as an eVisa on the official portal. For US applicants, the Brazilian consulate in San Francisco lists the fee as USD 80.90, checked 24 September 2026. 2 Choose your nationality on the portal and follow that route. 14
VFS says processing takes up to 10 business days once an application is verified and submitted. It advises applying 2 months ahead and waiting for approval before buying flights or other nonrefundable travel. 14 Prepare a recent photo and a copy of the passport’s photo page. Carry your valid passport and a printed eVisa PDF on arrival. 13
For travelers from the UK on full British citizen passports, FCDO guidance checked on 24 September 2026 allows up to 90 days of tourism without a visa. It calls for 6 months of passport validity after arrival. 3 Confirm the rule for your own passport with the consulate and airline; VFS uses different validity wording. 13
Your arrival: make the first evening easy
From Santos Dumont, you can build a rail journey to Copacabana. Take VLT Line 3 to Cinelândia, then change to MetrôRio for Cardeal Arcoverde / Copacabana. 28, 29 The example below ends at ibis Copacabana Posto 2, near that metro station. 30 Use it when you can manage your bags on both systems. For a late arrival or heavy luggage, compare a booked ride to the hotel.
Reach your room
ibis Copacabana Posto 2 is at Rua Ministro Viveiros de Castro, 134. 30 Save the final walking route before leaving the station. If stairs, bags or the hour make the trip awkward, arrange a ride that takes you to the door.
Use a taxi or app when needed
Use an authorized airport taxi booth or an official ride-hailing app. For an app ride, wait at its designated pickup point and match the driver and plate. Share the trip. 15 For a prebooked car, agree on the meeting point, waiting charge and delay procedure.
| Fare | BRL |
|---|---|
| VLT single | 5.00 |
| Metro single | 7.90 |
| Total, one person | 12.90 |
One-way fare arithmetic: 5.00 + 7.90. BRL only; no conversion or transfer discount assumed. Excludes a new transit card’s purchase charge, hotel and any taxi. Read the operating-hours note below.
VLT publishes daily hours of 05:00-23:00. 6 Cardeal Arcoverde lists 05:00-midnight Monday to Saturday and 07:00-23:00 on Sundays and holidays. 29 Check live service before you leave the airport. Allow time for the change and walk. If your flight arrives near closing time, book a ride; the last part of the trip still needs to work after you collect your bags.
Getting around without overloading the trip
Compare the whole journey. For each move, include the trip to the terminal, waiting, baggage collection and the final ride to your room. The cheapest ticket is only one part of that choice. Keep your important booking confirmations together so a change to one leg is easy to trace through the rest of the itinerary.
| Journey | Start with |
|---|---|
| Santos Dumont to Copacabana | VLT, then MetrôRio |
| Manaus to Amazon Ecopark | Lodge’s road and boat transfer |
| Rio to Salvador or Foz | Flight search for your dates |
For rail, check both stations and the final walk. For the lodge, settle pickup, bags and return time in writing. For flights, compare airports, baggage and change terms. For an overland trip, check the bus operator’s terminal, seat and arrival time before buying.
MetrôRio charges passengers BRL 7.90 on 24 September 2026; the approved regulatory tariff of BRL 8.20 is not the fare you pay. 5 For a short city stay, compare single fares with the number of trips you plan to take. Buy a card for the payment features you need, and keep the receipt where you can find it.
| Product | BRL |
|---|---|
| Single, lines 1 / 2 / 4 | 7.90 |
| New Giro card | 11.90 |
| Metro + BRT, Jaé | 9.70 |
Giro includes a refundable BRL 4 deposit and BRL 7.90 credit. Metro+BRT requires an eligible Jaé journey within 120 minutes; bank-card taps do not provide that integration. Giro buys credit, not unlimited rides. BRL only; no conversion. Other products and airport transfers excluded.
Choose lodging around the days you want
Choose your base by the days you want to spend there. For Rio beach time with metro access, compare ibis Copacabana Posto 2. For Salvador’s historic center, look at Casa do Amarelindo in Pelourinho. For a seaside base in Salvador, compare Mercure Rio Vermelho. 30, 31, 32 These are starting points for a room search. Price the same dates and room needs at each.
| Base | Property to compare |
|---|---|
| Copacabana, Rio | ibis Copacabana Posto 2 |
| Pelourinho, Salvador | Casa do Amarelindo |
| Rio Vermelho, Salvador | Mercure Rio Vermelho |
| Tarumã River, Manaus | Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge |
Choose Copacabana for beach days with metro access; Pelourinho for historic-center outings; Rio Vermelho for a seaside stay and meals in that district. At the lodge, compare the whole stay with transfers. Room details and limits follow below.
ibis Copacabana Posto 2 lists air conditioning and Wi-Fi, with Cardeal Arcoverde metro nearby. 30 That makes it a useful starting point for the arrival example above. Compare the room rate with nearby options, then check breakfast and cancellation terms for the rate you select. Keep beach plans flexible so a wet morning leaves room for a city outing.
Casa do Amarelindo’s standard room faces the Pelourinho street on the second floor. It offers a king bed or twin beds and has noise-reducing windows. Extra beds are unavailable in that room category. 31 Couples and friends should choose the bed setup when booking. Families should compare a room that fits everyone, then check how they will reach it with bags.
Mercure Salvador Rio Vermelho is at Rua Fonte do Boi, 215, by the sea. It has a pool and lists rooms for guests with reduced mobility. 32 Choose it if time at the hotel and meals in Rio Vermelho matter most. If most of your plans are in Pelourinho, compare the cost and effort of those journeys before settling on this base.
Amazon Ecopark says the lodge is under an hour from Manaus airport by car and boat. Staff meet guests at the airport with a name sign, and the road leg to Marina Águas Claras takes about 15 minutes. 1 Ask for a quote that lists every night, meal and transfer, and keep the written pickup plan with the reservation.
How much do Brazil attractions cost?
Proof decides the price. Parque Bondinho, the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain, sells a standard ticket for BRL 205. 19, 4 Visitors aged 60 and over, of any nationality, pay BRL 102 with official photo ID, a saving of BRL 103. Children aged 3 to 12 also pay BRL 102, and under-3s ride free. The BRL 160 and BRL 89 rates need Brazilian or Rio-state birth or residence. 4
Table view: Bondinho ticket prices
| Item | Value (BRL) |
|---|---|

Standard applies without a reduction. Per ticket; proof and booking terms below. BRL; no conversion.
Bondinho proof: age 60+ requires official photo ID. Brazil-born or resident visitors must show eligibility; the Rio-state rate needs proof of residence or an official birthplace document. 4 Check the ticket terms before buying. Transfers and food are extra. Confirm any checkout fees in the final total.

Per visitor, all exhibitions that day. Free all day on Tuesdays (10:00-20:00, last entry 19:00) and on Fridays from 18:00 (last entry 20:00). Book online for paid and free entry. Closed Mondays; last entry one hour before closing. Check holiday hours. BRL only; no conversion. Food and transport extra; confirm any checkout charges.
Iguaçu is the other ticket to price early. On 24 September 2026 the park's ticket site listed the foreigner ticket from BRL 131 and the Brazil and Mercosur ticket from BRL 118. 8 The ticket covers the park's internal transport, the 1 km Trilha das Cataratas, the elevators and the walkway. The federal park offers no half-price entry for students or seniors. 7
Brazil uses the real, and Visit Brasil says most businesses serving tourists accept international credit cards. 11 Carry a backup card and plan how you will get cash: MMT's guide to ATM fees abroad separates the machine's fee, your bank's fee and the conversion offer. FCDO reports card cloning at ATMs and in shops, so keep your card in sight and check the amount on the terminal. 15
Visit Brasil says displayed establishment prices include taxes. Tips are voluntary; around 10% is customary in restaurants and bars when service has not already been included. Read the bill before adding another amount. For booked attractions and accommodation, still check the final checkout total and the stated inclusions. 33
Safety and health for your actual route
Make the return journey part of the outing. FCDO advises avoiding favelas, including tourist tours, avoiding city beaches after dark, and not resisting robbery. Read the current safety advice alongside your own government's guidance before travel. Apply it to the places and activities on your itinerary. 15
At least 8 weeks before travel, review destination-specific vaccination advice with a travel-health professional. FCDO lists yellow fever, dengue, chikungunya and oropouche among Brazil's health risks and recommends insurance for treatment or evacuation. 16 MMT's comparison of long-term travel insurance and international health insurance sets out which risks each kind of policy covers.
- Show your clinician the actual route, including any lodge stay, rather than asking about Brazil in general.
- Check your insurance against the activities you intend to book, and save the assistance contact where your travel companion can find it.
- Discuss medication supply, documentation and storage needs before departure; settle any essential requirements with your accommodation.
- For a remote stay, ask how the operator communicates, where help comes from and how a changed return would be handled.
FCDO says robberies are common in many Brazilian cities, particularly on buses, and that thieves target phones, especially between 16:00 and 21:00. It also reports theft and robbery on urban metro lines and advises against using a phone on the train. Beach thefts include arrastões, when a large group runs through grabbing belongings, so take only what the day needs. 15
Before swimming, check the warning flags and where the lifeguards are: FCDO warns of strong currents off some beaches and of shark attacks around Recife. Heavy rain brings flash floods and landslides where mountains meet the coast, as in Rio de Janeiro. Follow local alerts, and stay off the road in heavy rain. 15
Access, connectivity and everyday practicalities
Check access from the street to the activity. MetrôRio lists lifts, ramps and platform equipment by station. Check both ends of your journey and ask staff for help. 34 Name the entrance you plan to use. Confirm that the equipment you need is working before you leave for the station.
MASP offers free admission to visitors with disabilities and one companion, permits qualifying guide dogs, and invites advance accessibility requests. Use its visitor information to arrange what you need before the visit. Confirm the booking process and the facilities relevant to your own visit. 9
- For accommodation, request details of the exact room, entrance, lift and bathroom rather than relying on a general accessible label.
- For a boat or lodge transfer, describe the assistance you need for boarding, seating and moving between vehicles.
- For an attraction, ask about surfaces, gradients, rest places and toilets along the full route you intend to take.
- For a long outing, agree on a shorter alternative and how you would return if someone needs to stop early.
Set up phone service before the first journey that needs it. Check that the plan works with your device and covers your stops. Decide whether you need voice calls as well as data. Save maps and tickets offline. For the lodge stay, ask how you can receive an urgent message and how the team reaches guests while they are out on a trip.
Visit Brasil describes electricity supply as varying between 110V and 220V by location. Check the actual socket and your appliance's input label before connecting it. For essential equipment, ask the property about the supply and the practical arrangements in your room before booking. 18
Travel on the terms of the people hosting you
Choose visits that communities direct. Funai says tourism on Indigenous lands follows terms set by Indigenous peoples, through an approved visit plan. 35 Ask who has agreed to host you and who runs the visit. Get the name of the community or association before you pay. A tour seller should be able to explain whose rules the group will follow.
AYRCA is the Associação Yanomami do Rio Cauaburis e Afluentes. Its own account says the Maturacá Yanomami chose the association to manage the Yaripo tourism project. 36 Start with the association’s own account. Ask the hosts about current visits and how to book through their chosen team. Let their plans set the terms of your trip.
- Ask which named community or association is hosting the visit and where its own visitor information is published.
- Confirm that the proposed visit follows the community's current arrangements, including who receives payment and who guides.
- Ask about photography, recordings, private spaces and ceremonies before arriving; follow the hosts' decisions.
- Buy work attributed to its maker, and ask how the seller describes its origin rather than accepting a generic cultural label.
The same care belongs in city visits. IPHAN's account of the baianas de acarajé places knowledge, work and religious practice together. Buy food respectfully, ask permission for a portrait and make room for people to continue their work. Permission to purchase something and permission to record its maker are separate questions. 25
When choosing a cultural activity, look for the name of the organizer and a clear account of what visitors are being invited to attend. Ask whether questions are welcome, where photography is allowed and what behavior is expected. Follow the people responsible for the place rather than the behavior of another visitor.

How long should a first Brazil trip be?
MMT suggests 10 nights for Rio with Salvador or Foz do Iguaçu. Count nights in beds, not just dates on the flight ticket. A late arrival followed by a morning departure gives you little time in a place. With a week, choose one city or the Manaus-and-lodge route. Keep the final overnight stop close to the flight home.
Where should I stay in Salvador?
For a trip led by historic-center outings, compare a Pelourinho room such as Casa do Amarelindo. For time by the sea, compare Mercure Rio Vermelho. 31, 32 Put your planned dinners on the map as well as museums. Choose the base that makes the end of the day easy, and budget for rides to the other district.
Does every visitor get 90 visa-free days?
No. Full British citizen passports get up to 90 days for tourism without a visa. 3 US, Canadian and Australian passports have needed an eVisa since 10 April 2025; it allows stays of up to 90 days a year. 2, 13 For any other passport, check with the Brazilian consulate. With dual nationality, decide which passport you will travel on before you apply.
How early should I apply for an eVisa?
VFS advises applying 2 months ahead. Its 10-business-day processing period starts after the application is complete, verified and submitted. Wait for approval before buying flights or nonrefundable travel. 14 Allow time to correct a photo or document. Keep checking the email address you supplied, including its spam folder, for requests and the decision.
Can an overseas visitor use the Sugarloaf senior rate?
Yes: the age-60-plus category covers all nationalities, with official photo ID as proof. 4 Check the category for each person in your party. Keep the ID with the ticket on the day; a discount chosen online still needs the right proof at entry.
Do I need to book MASP on a free day?
Yes, book online even during free hours. Choose the date carefully: MASP says changing it requires canceling the purchase and making a new one. 9 Check the new slot before changing other plans. Keep enough time for the collection and a meal, instead of filling the day with separate timed bookings.
Can I buy an Iguaçu ticket when I reach the park?
Buy online before leaving for the park. Tickets have a set date and time, places are limited, and each person needs photo ID. 7 Check the booking for each traveler. Save it offline and keep the return transport details beside it. Book any extra activity separately and read its own arrival instructions.
Can I rely entirely on a credit card?
Most tourism businesses accept international cards, according to Visit Brasil. 11 Keep a second way to pay and ask your lodge how it takes deposits and final payment. Decide who in your group will pay shared bills. Keep receipts so meals, rides and room charges are easy to split at the end of the trip.
Which vaccines do I need for Brazil?
Ask a travel-health professional using your exact route and medical history. Review advice at least 8 weeks ahead. 16 Include city stops, river trips and nights at a lodge. Bring your past vaccine record to the appointment. Ask about timing, mosquito precautions and what to do if you feel ill during or after the trip.
How do I choose an Indigenous-led visit?
Start with the named hosts’ own information. Ask who sets the rules, receives payment and leads the visit. Confirm that the trip follows their approved arrangements. 35 For Yaripo, read AYRCA’s account, then ask about current visits through the association. 36 A lodge’s cultural outing and an Indigenous-led visit need separate checks; ask who is hosting each stop.
