Picture the working week, then price it
Canggu sells a working day that starts in the surf and ends at a rooftop desk. The beach is why people book a month and stay for six. The roads behind it are why some leave in week three. This page prices the working part of that month: three named coworking spaces, live villa listings in Berawa, a scooter, and a data plan for the afternoon the Wi-Fi drops.
Every figure here comes from the provider's own page, read on 25 and 26 September 2026. Rupiah first. Dollars convert at Bank Indonesia's JISDOR reference rate of Rp 17,917.00 per US dollar for 25 September 2026, the spot rate the central bank publishes each trading day. 2
The short answer sits in one line. A lean month of rent, desk, scooter and data in Berawa costs about IDR 21,961,273, close to USD 1,226, or IDR 732,042 a day. The desk is the cheap part of that. Rent takes 76.8 percent of it. 3, 4, 5, 6, 2
What does coworking in Canggu cost?
Three named spaces, three different price structures, read from their own pages in late September 2026.
Three Canggu spaces publish a price, and no two of them sell the same thing. Tropical Nomad sells hours in buckets. BWork sells a cheaper membership that locks you out between mid-morning and mid-afternoon. PUCO Rooftop, a locally owned coworking space, cafe and coliving hub in Tibubeneng, sells a straight 30-day pass. Comparing them on one number compares apples to scooters. 1, 9, 4
| Space | What the price buys | Price (IDR) | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tropical Nomad | Standard 50: 50 hours a month, 24/7 access | 1,350,000 | 75 |
| Tropical Nomad | Power 100: 100 hours a month | 2,200,000 | 123 |
| Tropical Nomad | Unlimited Pass: unlimited access | 3,300,000 | 184 |
| BWork | Non-peak monthly, 3:00 PM to 10:00 AM | 2,000,000 | 112 |
| BWork | Day pass (Rp 199,000 for Indonesian ID holders) | 299,000 | 17 |
| PUCO Rooftop | Monthly mate: 30 days, 12 focus-room hours | 2,000,000 | 112 |
| PUCO Rooftop | Dedicated desk, per month | 2,500,000 | 140 |
| PUCO Rooftop | Day pass, 24 hours | 200,000 | 11 |
Dollars at the JISDOR rate of Rp 17,917.00 per US dollar, 25 September 2026, rounded to the dollar. Tropical Nomad also lists a Night Owl plan at IDR 1,700,000, a Dedicated Premium desk at IDR 3,800,000, and day passes at IDR 200,000 for seven hours or IDR 260,000 for a full day. PUCO adds a weekly pass at IDR 750,000, focus rooms from IDR 30,000 an hour and a meeting room at IDR 100,000 an hour. BWork's full-access monthly price sits behind a script tab that stayed blank on the fetch. 1, 9, 4, 2
Table view: A month at a Canggu desk
| Item | Value (IDR) |
|---|---|
| Tropical Nomad, Unlimited Pass | 3,300,000 IDR |
| PUCO Rooftop, dedicated desk | 2,500,000 IDR |
| Tropical Nomad, Power 100 hours | 2,200,000 IDR |
| BWork, non-peak monthly | 2,000,000 IDR |
| PUCO Rooftop, monthly mate | 2,000,000 IDR |
| Tropical Nomad, Standard 50 hours | 1,350,000 IDR |
The dearest monthly plan is 2.44 times the cheapest, and the two buy different products: unlimited access against 50 hours, a desk that stays yours against a seat you find. PUCO's 30-day pass is the simplest figure to hold up against a villa price. Source: 1, 9, 4
Price the hours you will actually sit down for. Tropical Nomad's 50-hour plan works out at IDR 27,000 an hour and its 100-hour plan at IDR 22,000. The 50-hour plan also costs the same as 5.2 of its own full-day passes at IDR 260,000, so the plan starts paying on your sixth visit. BWork's non-peak month equals 6.7 day passes at IDR 299,000. 1, 9

How much is a monthly villa in Canggu?
One agency's live Berawa listings on 25 September 2026, from a 1-bedroom apartment to a new luxury 3-bedroom.
Berawa listings span 5.6 times, and the term matters as much as the price. Bali Home Immo showed a 1-bedroom apartment in the heart of Berawa at IDR 16,875,000 a month with 16 units available, a 2-bedroom villa inside a complex at IDR 46,000,000 on a three-month minimum, and a brand-new luxury 3-bedroom at IDR 95,000,000. All were live listings on 25 September 2026. 3
| Listing | Term | Month (IDR) | Month (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-bedroom apartment, Berawa (RF9543A) | Monthly, 16 units at this price | 16,875,000 | 942 |
| 1-bedroom in a villa complex (RF11271A) | Monthly, 3-month minimum | 35,400,000 | 1,976 |
| 2-bedroom private villa in that complex (RF11271B) | Monthly, 3-month minimum | 46,000,000 | 2,567 |
| 3-bedroom in that complex (RF11271C) | Monthly, 3-month minimum | 65,800,000 | 3,672 |
| New luxury 3-bedroom, Berawa (BHI1406A) | Monthly, 1 unit, pets allowed | 95,000,000 | 5,302 |
Dollars at the JISDOR rate of Rp 17,917.00, 25 September 2026. These are live agency listings and the prices move. The cards carry no breakdown of what electricity, water, pool service or staff add on top, and three of the five ask for three months. 3, 2
What internet speed can you count on?
Four Canggu spaces describe their internet, and none of them prints a speed. Tropical Nomad, BWork and PUCO Rooftop all promise high-speed Wi-Fi or fibre with no Mbps figure anywhere on the pages read in late September 2026. Even Dojo Bali's dormant homepage still advertises six load-balanced fibre lines. Marketing copy is what you get. 1, 9, 4, 10
The only quantified figure available is national. Ookla's Speedtest Global Index put Indonesia's median fixed broadband at 51.40 Mbps down and 36.23 Mbps up for the period ending August 2026, ranked 113th in the world, with mobile at 66.34 down and 19.80 up. That is a median across the whole country, and it says nothing about one rooftop in Tibubeneng. 7
| Connection | Download (Mbps) | Upload (Mbps) | Latency (ms) | World rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile | 66.34 | 19.80 | 20 | 70 |
| Fixed broadband | 51.40 | 36.23 | 8 | 113 |
National medians for all of Indonesia, not a Bali or a Canggu reading. A single villa, cafe or coworking room can sit far above or far below the middle, which is why the day pass below is a test and not a treat. 7
Carry a second line for the hour the first one fails. Airalo's Indonesia eSIM prices 30 days of unlimited data at USD 69.00, about IDR 1,236,273, with shorter terms from USD 11.00 for three days and USD 34.00 for ten. It is the cheapest insurance in this budget. MMT's remote-work travel budget prices the same failure across seven cities. 6, 2
What is the traffic really like in Canggu?
Canggu's congestion is an official problem with an official explanation. AA Ngurah Gde Rahmadi, head of the Badung Transportation Agency, told Bali Discovery in June 2026 that traffic engineering here is hard because the roads "are nearly the same width and are all heavily trafficked". There is no quiet parallel route to divert into during peak periods and tourist season. 8
Amy Cavender, writing for PerthNow in June 2026 and republished by Bali Discovery, described a 5-kilometre Canggu journey that once took 10 to 15 minutes and now runs past an hour. Plan the commute around that afternoon, not around the map. 8
One junction did get fixed, and the official who opened it was careful about what that meant. Badung Regent I Nyoman Giri Prasta opened the Tibubeneng to Canggu bypass at Simpang Padonan on 10 January 2024, with police running a one-way trial on it. His line was "not eliminate congestion, but ease it". His transport department head put the underlying volume down to Tibubeneng's shift from farmland to tourism accommodation, services, trade and housing. 11

So book the bed and the desk on the same side of the shortcut. Berawa to a Tibubeneng rooftop looks like nothing on a map. If the desk sits across the choke point from the villa, that gap is a tax you pay twice a day, five days a week, for a month. Ride the route once at five in the afternoon before you sign either contract.
Getting to the desk: scooter or Gojek
A scooter is how working Canggu gets to work, and it comes with paperwork. DC Rental Bali prices 30 days from IDR 1,850,000 for a Lexi 155cc, IDR 3,500,000 for an Nmax Turbo and IDR 6,500,000 for an Xmax Tech Max, with no deposit and insurance included per its own site. It asks for a passport, a visa as a PDF, an international or Indonesian licence, and a hotel booking. 5
| Machine | 30 days (IDR) | 30 days (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Lexi 155cc | 1,850,000 | 103 |
| Nmax Turbo / Tech Max 155cc | 3,500,000 | 195 |
| Xmax Tech Max | 6,500,000 | 363 |
Dollars at the JISDOR rate of Rp 17,917.00, 25 September 2026. Long-term hire is billed in 30-day blocks. Required documents per the site: passport, visa as a PDF, an international driving permit or Indonesian licence, and a hotel reservation. 5, 2
Ride-hailing has a floor, a ceiling and a moving price in between. Indonesia's transport ministry set online motorcycle-taxi fares in Zone I, which covers Bali, at Rp 2,000 to Rp 2,500 a kilometre from 10 September 2022, with a minimum of Rp 8,000 to Rp 10,000 covering the first 4 kilometres. 13
Gojek's own help page says prices rise with demand and stay inside that government floor and ceiling. So a 5-kilometre run to a desk prices at roughly Rp 10,000 to Rp 12,500 before surge, and two of those a day for 30 days come to Rp 600,000 to Rp 750,000. That is 41 percent of the Lexi's monthly rate at the top end. Check the in-app quote. 13, 5
A working month in Canggu, priced
One pattern, four lines, every price from the provider's own page. Swap your own choices in; the structure holds.
The lean version costs IDR 21,961,273 a month, about USD 1,226, or IDR 732,042 a day. That is the Berawa 1-bedroom, PUCO Rooftop's 30-day pass, a Lexi 155cc for 30 days and an unlimited Indonesia eSIM. Food, coffee, laundry, drinks, the visa and the flight all sit on top. 3, 4, 5, 6, 2
| Line | What it buys | Month (IDR) | Month (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rent, 1-bedroom apartment, Berawa | Bali Home Immo listing RF9543A, monthly term | 16,875,000 | 942 |
| Coworking, PUCO Rooftop monthly mate | 30 days of access, 12 focus-room hours | 2,000,000 | 112 |
| Scooter, Lexi 155cc | 30 days, insurance included per the site | 1,850,000 | 103 |
| Mobile data, Airalo Indonesia unlimited | 30 days, USD 69.00 converted | 1,236,273 | 69 |
| Lean working month | Rent, desk, scooter and data | 21,961,273 | 1,226 |
Dollars at the JISDOR rate of Rp 17,917.00 per US dollar, 25 September 2026. Rent takes 76.8 percent of the total. A day pass at IDR 200,000 covers the afternoon the villa Wi-Fi fails, and it belongs in the budget as insurance. 3, 4, 5, 6, 2
Table view: Where a lean Canggu month goes
| Item | Value (IDR) | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Rent, 1-bedroom in Berawa | 16,875,000 IDR | 77% |
| Coworking, 30-day pass | 2,000,000 IDR | 9% |
| Scooter, 30 days | 1,850,000 IDR | 8% |
| Mobile data, 30-day eSIM | 1,236,273 IDR | 6% |
Rent is 76.8 percent of the month. Moving up to the 2-bedroom complex villa at IDR 46,000,000 adds IDR 29,125,000, which is 5.73 times the desk, the scooter and the data put together. Housing is the only line worth arguing about. Source: 3, 4, 5, 6
- Change the desk and the month barely moves. Tropical Nomad's Unlimited Pass instead of PUCO's 30-day pass adds IDR 1,300,000, about USD 73, to a month of roughly IDR 22 million. Buy the plan that fits your hours and stop optimising it. 1, 4, 2
- Change the villa and the month changes shape. The 2-bedroom complex villa, the Unlimited Pass and an Nmax Turbo take the same four lines to IDR 54,036,273, about USD 3,016, and the villa asks for three months. 3, 1, 5, 6, 2
- Skip the scooter and you trade money for freedom of route. Two 5-kilometre Gojek trips a day for 30 days price at roughly Rp 600,000 to Rp 750,000 against IDR 1,850,000 for the Lexi. You wait in the same traffic, without choosing when to leave. 13, 5
- What this budget leaves out is the fun part. Food, coffee, laundry, drinks, health cover, the visa and the flight are all outside the four lines above, and in Canggu they add up fast.
Your first week, in order
Buy the month in the order that lets you back out of it. Day passes, then a week, then a month. Each step buys the information the next one needs, and the whole sequence costs less than one wrong monthly commitment.
Day two: ride the commute at its worst
Take the route between the villa you are considering and the desk you liked, at five in the afternoon. Badung's own transport chief says the alternate routes are as congested as the main ones, so what you feel that day is what you get in week four. 8
Day three: sort the licence, then the scooter
An International Driving Permit with the motorcycle endorsement, or an Indonesian SIM C. DC Rental Bali asks for a passport, a visa PDF, the licence and a hotel booking, and bills in 30-day blocks from IDR 1,850,000. Fines at a checkpoint run about IDR 500,000. 12, 5
A month in Canggu is cheap at the desk and expensive at the door. The Indonesia country guide carries the arrival and island-choice steps, and a diving month in Amed shows what the same money buys on the quiet east coast.
Frequently asked questions
Is Canggu cheap for a digital nomad in 2026?
The desk is cheap and the rent is not the bargain it once was. A lean month of rent, coworking, a scooter and data in Berawa came to about IDR 21,961,273, roughly USD 1,226, on September 2026 prices, and rent alone is 76.8 percent of that. Trade down on housing and the whole number moves; trade down on the desk and you save about USD 73. 3, 4, 5, 6, 2
Which Canggu coworking space is cheapest?
Tropical Nomad's Standard 50 plan at IDR 1,350,000 a month is the lowest monthly figure, but it buys 50 hours, around 11 hours a week. For all-day access the cheapest published options are BWork's non-peak monthly and PUCO Rooftop's 30-day pass, both IDR 2,000,000, and BWork's version shuts you out between mid-morning and mid-afternoon. 1, 9, 4
Are coworking day passes better value than a membership?
Up to about five visits a month, yes. The crossover at Tropical Nomad is the sixth day you actually turn up; at BWork's non-peak tier it is the seventh. Below that a day pass is cheaper and you owe nobody a month. Count the days you will really turn up, not the days you could. 1, 9
Can I rent a Canggu villa for one month only?
Some listings, yes. On 25 September 2026 Bali Home Immo showed a 1-bedroom Berawa apartment at IDR 16,875,000 a month with 16 units available, and a luxury 3-bedroom at IDR 95,000,000. The villas inside the Berawa complex, from IDR 35,400,000 to IDR 65,800,000, all carry a three-month minimum. Ask for the term and the exclusions in writing. 3
How fast is the internet in Canggu?
No Canggu coworking space published a speed on the pages read on 25 and 26 September 2026. The nearest real figure is Ookla's Indonesia median for August 2026: 51.40 Mbps down and 36.23 Mbps up on fixed broadband, 66.34 down and 19.80 up on mobile. Treat that as a country number and test the room you will work in. 7, 1, 9, 4
How bad is Canggu traffic for a daily commute?
Bad enough that the regency has stopped promising a fix. In June 2026 Badung's transportation agency head said Canggu's roads are near enough the same width and all heavily used, which rules out the usual one-way remedies. A reporter in the same piece described a 5-kilometre trip that once took 10 to 15 minutes running past an hour. One bypass at Simpang Padonan opened in January 2024. 8, 11
Do I need a licence to rent a scooter in Bali?
Bikago's own rental FAQ says Indonesian law asks for an International Driving Permit with the motorcycle endorsement, or an Indonesian SIM C, and that a car category alone fails even inside an IDP. It puts roadside fines at typically IDR 500,000, with checkpoints around Canggu, Seminyak, Legian and the Ubud roads. That is a rental operator's guidance; the police apply the law. 12
Does paying for a coworking desk make my work in Bali legal?
A desk is a product, and permission is a separate question. Entry as a visitor, permission to work, and where you owe tax depend on your passport, your employer and Indonesian rules, and this page prices desks, rent and transport only. Start with MMT's tourist entry against remote-work permission and confirm your own case before you book a month.
