Real 2026/27 prices from the pass sellers, the ski shops, the lesson desks and the letting agents, with a seven-day Colorado worksheet you can copy for any mountain.

THE SHORT VERSION
  • A season pass is not one price. The 2026/27 adult range runs from $319 for an Ikon Session Pass to $1,449 for the full Ikon Pass, with Epic Local at $849 and the full Epic Pass at $1,145. 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Seven days at Breckenridge on an Epic Day Pass costs $701, which Breckenridge prints as $101 a day, against $144 for one restricted day. Add a $149 season gear rental and one $238 group lesson and the committed total is $1,088. 5, 6, 7, 8
  • Housing decides the season. A Chamonix flat for 2 January to 4 April 2027 is €10,080 with a €3,000 deposit. Whistler's employee housing charges 30 percent of gross household income and is open only to qualified Whistler employees and retirees. 9, 10, 11
  • Price the low-use season first. Five days instead of seven turns that $1,088 into $217.60 a completed day, and Alta prints plainly that unused days on its $959 card expire with the season. 5, 7, 8, 12
  • Some ski-town transport is free. The Summit Stage bus runs countywide at no fare and Breckenridge's named town lots are free after 5 p.m. from November to April; the Denver airport shuttle is $89 a person each way, $72 with an Epic Pass. 13, 14, 15

This page prices recreational resort skiing for the 2026/27 season from each seller's own page. Flights, food and the payments that carry on at home sit outside every total below, and backcountry touring needs different preparation and a different budget.

Define your season: local trips or destination?

Seven days of lift access at Breckenridge costs $701. Three winter months in a Chamonix chalet cost €25,680 in rent, and adding the holiday fortnight takes it to €32,100. 5, 9 Both are a ski season. The number that decides which one you can afford sits a long way from the ticket window.

Three plans share the word season, and the money behaves differently in each. Ten Saturdays from a city two hours out is mostly fuel and day tickets. One destination week is mostly flights and lodging. Three months within walking distance of a gondola is mostly rent. Price them as three separate projects and the right answer arrives early.

  • A local season. Lift access at one Vail Resorts mountain is $144 for a single restricted day, $471 for four days and $701 for seven, which Breckenridge prints as $118 and $101 a day. Chosen before the season, used whenever you like. 6, 5
  • A destination week. Aspen Snowmass prices seven adult days at $1,323, falling to $994 booked 30 days ahead. Its own Flex Pass prices four to seven chosen days at $799 to $1,049, an Early Pricing tier the resort's own page still showed unchanged on 24 September 2026. 16, 17
  • A winter near the lifts. A Chamonix agency lists a central flat sleeping up to four at €10,080 for 2 January to 4 April 2027, with a €3,000 deposit. 9

Put your dates on a calendar before you read a price. Strike the weekends already spoken for. What remains is the number every product on this page gets measured against. For a first winter, the first ski holiday budget prices one trip end to end before you commit to a season.

How many ski days will you actually take?

A pass sells permission. A calendar sells days. The two are different numbers.

Start with the holidays the pass refuses. The Ikon Base Pass blacks out 26 to 30 December 2026, 16 and 17 January 2027, and 13 and 14 February 2027 at its unlimited destinations. That is most of the winter holiday and both long weekends a salaried skier gets handed. The full Ikon Pass carries none of those three windows on its core access. 18, 2

Day caps do the same work more quietly. Ikon's own comparison gives Aspen Snowmass 5 days on the Session Pass, Snowmass mountain alone on the Base Pass, and 7 days on the full Ikon Pass. Alta's own page states its 7 Ikon days are shared with Snowbird, so a week at one is a week taken from the other. 19, 20

  1. Write the dates down

List every date you could ski this winter, then delete the ones already committed to something else. Count what survives.

  2. Read the product against those dates

Check the blackout list and the per-destination row for every mountain on your list. Ikon prints both on its compare page. 19, 18

  3. Add what the day still needs

Alta requires a parking reservation Friday to Sunday and on holidays between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Ikon passholders buy one for $25, ride the UTA ski bus free, or arrive after 1 p.m. 20

  4. Cut the count by a third and look again

Weather takes days, work takes days, a sore knee takes a week. A season that works only at full attendance is a season built on a wish.

Two numbers matter once the season starts: days completed and money committed. Keep both on one line of a spreadsheet and the rest of this page becomes arithmetic.

Build your budget in four cost categories

Four kinds of money leave your account in a ski season, and only one of them counts how often you ski. Sorting them this way shows you immediately which decisions still have money attached and which are already spent.

  • Committed before the snow. A pass, a season gear rental, a lease, a locker. You pay these whether you ski 20 days or two.
  • Caused by each visit. Fuel, a fare, parking, the lunch you buy because you are out. In Summit County the county bus is fare-free and the named town lots in Breckenridge are free after 5 p.m. from November to April, so this line stays small. 13, 14
  • Equipment and instruction. They improve the seasons after this one and get paid for in this one. Keep them visible instead of folding them into the pass.
  • Every calendar day away. Rent runs on rest days. A three-month flat costs the same in a week of rain as in a week of powder.

Here is the first category priced for one real plan: seven ski days from a Colorado base, with a season gear rental and one lesson, every figure read from the seller's own page.

The pass costs more than the lesson and a whole season of gear put together. Take from this that cutting the gear line saves the least and moving the pass tier saves the most. Source: 5, 8, 7

That is $155.43 a planned ski day, and the whole sum turns on the word planned. Ski five of the seven and the same $1,088 becomes $217.60 a completed day. Ski four and the pass alone works out at $175.25 a day, above the $118 a day Breckenridge charges on its own four-day tier. 5, 7, 8

Then the per-visit line. Driving is the one figure this page hands back to you: AAA's national average for regular gasoline was $4.4750 a gallon on 22 September 2026, and turning that into a trip cost needs your own car and your own round trip. From Denver, the shared door-to-door shuttle to Summit County is $89 a person each way, or $72 with an Epic Pass. 21, 15

What does a season pass actually save you?

Ten 2026/27 products for one adult, and the division that tells you which to buy.

A season pass is not one price, and the cheapest is not a smaller version of the dearest. The Ikon Session Pass at $319 buys 2, 3 or 4 total days with blackouts and lift reservations. The full Ikon Pass at $1,449 buys unlimited access at 18 destinations and up to 7 days each at Alta, Aspen Snowmass, Big Sky, Deer Valley, Jackson Hole and others. 1, 2

Alta's $1,099 card, on sale through 4 November, adds rollover of unused value into next season. Big Sky prices its other tiers behind an on-page selector, so only the Adult Blue Pass is listed here. 2, 12, 22

Break-even is one division, and it lies unless you divide by the ticket you would really have bought. Vail Mountain's own page shows four prices for one adult day at once, and they sit $191 apart.

Four prices for one adult day at Vail Mountain, from one page on 13 September 2026 23

All four are adult prices for one day at the same mountain. The two dated rows were priced for Friday 13 November 2026; the other two are season-long products. The $335 row costs more than the same-day $239 because it is refundable and not tied to a date. A break-even sum is honest only when the divisor is the row you would have clicked. 23

So which one? For seven days or fewer at Vail Resorts mountains, the Epic Day Pass wins outright: $701 against $1,008 for seven restricted single days, a $307 difference. Past 13 days at Big Sky, its own two numbers make the season pass cheaper. Between those, the tier you choose is a bet on the days your calendar will actually clear. 5, 6, 22, 24

One comparison outside North America is worth a minute. Bansko Ski's 2025/26 season pass was €1,020, about $1,169 at the European Central Bank's 18 September 2026 reference rate, with a single adult day at €59 and a 20-day pass at €859. Its 2026/27 prices were still unpublished on 13 September 2026. 25, 26

How much does seasonal housing cost?

Three named Chamonix lets for the same winter window, and the two kinds of ski-town housing that are closed to visitors.

Housing is where a season stops being a hobby and starts being a lease. One Chamonix agency publishes its winter prices outright, which makes it a useful ruler: the same dates, the same agency, the same inclusions, three very different properties.

Three Chamonix winter lets for 2 January to 4 April 2027, from one agency's own listings, read 20 September 2026 9, 26
PropertyRent, EURRent, USDDeposit, EUR
Cocoon flat, central Chamonix, 600 m from the lifts, sleeps up to 410,08011,5523,000

Ushuaia Saison chalet, about 2 km from Argentière25,68029,4299,000

Cimalpes states every price is in euros, all taxes included, and covers the agency's booking fee, the rent and the utility charges together, so there is no separate utilities line to price. The deposit answers for damage, is held until the agency's post-departure inspection, and comes back less repairs and a 20 percent management fee on anything found. Dollars at the European Central Bank's reference rate of 1.1460 dollars per euro, published Friday 18 September 2026, for information only. 27, 26

The holiday fortnight costs more per night than the rest of the winter. Extending the Cocoon booking back to 19 December 2026 adds 14 nights for €2,520, or €180 a night, against €109.57 a night across the 92-night window. On the chalet those same 14 nights cost €458.57 each. 9

That 92-night window carries a second question. French guidance defines a furnished tourist let as one where the same customer totals no more than 90 consecutive days of rental per calendar year, so ask the agency which contract covers the extra two nights before you sign. 28, 9

Two other kinds of ski-town housing exist, and a visiting skier qualifies for neither. Whistler Housing Authority runs 479 long-term units for qualified full-time Whistler employees and retirees, with rent set at 30 percent of gross household income, a first-come waitlist, parking excluded and utilities decided building by building. Summit County's housing authority manages no rentals at all and points renters toward income-restricted units with long waiting lists, built for people staying years. 10, 11, 31

Deposits are cash you need without being money you spend, so give them their own line. Where British Columbia's Residential Tenancy Act applies, a security deposit is capped at half a month's rent, and the landlord must act on it within 15 days of the tenancy ending or of receiving your forwarding address. That Act excludes accommodation occupied as vacation or travel accommodation, which covers most ski lets. 32

The seasonal housing costs guide works through deposits, utilities and minimum stays line by line.

Buy or rent equipment: test both paths

Three ways to stand on skis, and the cheapest one changes at about four days. Epic Mountain Gear leases a Sport package for the whole 2026/27 Colorado season at $149 and a Demo package at $249, boots, bindings and poles included, and says four days on snow pay for it. Checked against an unrelated shop, that holds: $149 divided by Jans' $33 seven-plus-day rate is 4.52 days. 7, 33

Boots sit outside both buying rows: the same shop lists a men's boot at $599.95 reduced to $389.97, and every rental row above includes boots. The sale row mixes a 2025/26 clearance ski and binding with a current-season pole, all orderable at that shop on the research date. Christy Sports prints 'Price Varies by Region' against all five of its adult season leases, so no national figure exists to set beside the $149. 34, 35, 36, 37, 38

Owning adds a menu the rental counter absorbs for you. Jans' tuning centre charges $82 for a full tune, $69 for a basic tune and $45 for a sharpen and wax. Mounting new bindings is $65, remounting them $74, and a boot-to-binding compatibility check $45. 40

Flying with your own set costs again. Southwest counts a ski bag and a boot bag as one item and waives the oversize fee, then charges $45 for the first checked bag and $55 for the second on travel booked from 9 April 2026. 41, 42

So which path? Under four days a season, rent by the day. Four days or more on one setup, take the season lease: $149 undercuts four days at Christy Sports' $45.95 starting rate, which come to $183.80. Once you know the shape you like, buy, and put the tune and the binding mount into the first year's total. The rental vs buying equipment guide runs ownership out across several seasons. 7, 38, 40

One name changes this winter. Vail Resorts announced on 16 March 2026 that Epic Mountain Rentals becomes My Epic Gear for 2026/27 across its 12 resorts, folding the old $50 season membership into the standard demo rental at no fee, and the operator's own page carries the notice today. The shop is the same and the sign is different. 43, 44

What do lessons cost, and when is a private one cheaper?

A lesson buys teaching and nothing else. Breckenridge states that every lesson needs a separately valid lift ticket or season pass, with discounted tickets addable at checkout, and that multi-day lessons run on consecutive dates. Whistler Blackcomb's help centre says the same about lift tickets. Lunch comes with full-day child group lessons only. 8, 45, 46

Bansko Ski, one full dayEUR 56EUR 1851 person
Ski Mania, Bansko, 2 hours, high seasonEUR 55EUR 1201 person

Lesson lengths differ by school and sit in the first column, so read down a column rather than across a row; the Ski Mania row is a 2-hour lesson and the other three are full days. Breckenridge and Whistler Blackcomb also print an Epic Mountain Rewards price for passholders, $190 and CAD 280. Ski Mania's high season runs 23 December 2026 to 20 March 2027, and Bansko Ski defines a group lesson as 3 to 12 people. Every price above needs a separate lift ticket. 8, 47, 48, 25

A private lesson stops being a splurge at a different group size in each town. Six adults sharing Breckenridge's full-day private lesson pay $1,333 flat, against $1,428 for six separate group places, about $16 less each. At Whistler Blackcomb the crossover arrives at four: CAD 1,332 flat against CAD 1,404 for four group places. 49, 8, 50, 47

For a family, price each person separately. A child in a full-day lesson, an adult skiing alone and a companion spending the day in town buy three different products at three different rates, and shared lodging does not make any of them shared. The ski lesson costs guide carries the per-person sums for both formats.

Factor in transport, parking and meals

Transport repeats, which is what makes it expensive. Alta's $25 parking reservation is trivial once and $300 across twelve reserved weekend days. The cure is to price the whole winter's travel at the start, in the same column as the pass. 20

Only one-way fares are confirmed here; ask Epic Mountain Express for its round-trip rate. Breckenridge publishes its full multi-hour parking chart as a graphic, so only the 50-cent first hour is printed. Driving costs need your own vehicle and round trip; AAA's national average for regular gasoline was $4.4750 a gallon on 22 September 2026. 15, 51, 21

Europe prices the same journey by the vehicle rather than the seat. A private transfer from Sofia airport to Bansko is €100 for one or two passengers each way, €120 for three or four, with ski equipment, standard luggage and child seats on request included. 52 The transport without a car comparison sets transfers against a rental car for a whole trip.

Meals stay your own estimate. Breckenridge's dining page names its restaurants without printing prices, so this page carries no on-mountain food figure at all. Budget from what you eat at home, then add the days you will buy lunch because you are cold and the queue is short.

What should I check before I pay?

Run the season you might actually get, then buy for that one. Take out the destination trip and two weekends and look at the committed total again. If the smaller season feels uncomfortable, buy a smaller access product and keep the difference liquid. Flexibility costs something; a large prepaid plan that depends on perfect attendance costs more.

Each row is that seller's published term for its own product. Lessons, lift tickets and rentals sit with different desks at the same resort and run on different clocks, so check all three before you book a day around one of them. 53, 54

A pass buys days. Conditions stay outside the transaction. The National Ski Areas Association's current code opens with staying in control and being able to stop or avoid people and objects, and asks anyone in a collision to share contact details with the other skier and a ski area employee. 55

Winter-sports cover is priced per person. Snowcard builds each quote to the traveller and lists £10 million of emergency medical expenses and search and rescue as standard. Buying many possible days should still leave you free to stop on an afternoon when the light goes flat. 56

  • The blackout list and the per-destination day count for every mountain on your dates. 18, 19
  • Whether the day needs a parking reservation, and what one costs. 20
  • The rule under which your accommodation is let, in the provider's own words. 30
  • What the deposit answers for and the date it comes back. 27
  • The refund deadline at each desk: lift, lesson and rental are three separate clocks. 53, 54
  • Your own low-use number: the same committed total divided by the days you will realistically get.

Frequently asked questions

When do 2026/27 pass prices go up?

Each seller runs its own clock, and a stated deadline does not always mean the price moves on that day. Aspen Snowmass's Flex Pass page warned prices would rise on 19 September 2026, but the same $799 to $1,049 Early Pricing band was still live when checked again on 24 September. Alta's 10-Day Powder Card is $959 through 30 September 2026 and $1,099 through 4 November, and only the later card rolls unused value into next season's pass or card. Put every seller's deadline on your list, then reopen the page on the day itself before you assume the price has changed. 17, 12

Should I count home rent when budgeting a ski season abroad?

Keep every payment that carries on at home in the cash plan, then show the extra cost of the season as a second, labelled total. The two answer different questions. A 92-night Chamonix window at €10,080 plus a €3,000 deposit is cash you need up front whatever your home payments do, and subletting income counts only once the arrangement is permitted and signed. 9

Is seasonal equipment rental cheaper than buying?

For a first or second season, yes. Epic Mountain Gear's $149 Sport lease covers all of 2026/27, less than four days at Christy Sports' $45.95 starting rate. A ski, binding and pole set at one shop is $846.89 on sale and $969.89 at current-season list, before boots at $389.97 and before the $82 tune and $65 binding mount that ownership adds each year. 7, 38, 35, 36, 37, 34, 40

How do I budget for rest days and non-skiing calendar days?

Housing and ordinary living costs run on every calendar day away, while per-visit costs stop when you stay in. Cimalpes charges the same €10,080 for its Chamonix window whether you ski 60 days or six. In Summit County a rest day in town costs the bus fare, which is nothing at all, so the honest rest-day figure there is the rent and the food. 9, 13

Does every resort on a multi-resort pass have the same access?

No. Ikon's own comparison gives Aspen Snowmass 5 days on the Session Pass, Snowmass mountain alone on the Base Pass and 7 days on the full Ikon Pass. Alta's own page states its 7 Ikon days are shared with Snowbird, and that the Base and Session passes are not valid there. Every Ikon tier does add 2 free days at each of 11 bonus mountains, blacked out on the same three holiday windows. 19, 20, 57

What number should I track: total spending or cost per day?

Track the committed total and the days completed. Cost per day is the result of those two, not a target to chase. The $1,088 Colorado worksheet on this page is $155.43 across seven planned days and $217.60 across five completed ones, and both are true. Taking a trip you did not want in order to improve the average spends more money, not less. 5, 7, 8

How do I know if I can afford a prepaid season pass?

Rerun the committed total with the destination trip and two weekends removed, and buy for that smaller season. Ikon offers Affirm plans from $29 a month on the Session Pass and $131 a month on the full Ikon Pass, which spreads a payment without shrinking it. Epic Coverage comes free with every Epic Pass and refunds for personal injury, job loss or resort closures. 1, 2, 4
