Every price here is Breckenridge's own published figure for the 2026/27 season in US dollars, read on 13 September 2026 and checked again on 22 September 2026. Rental gear, lodging, flights, food and clothing carry no rate on the resort's price pages, so the worksheet keeps those lines open for your own quotes.
Budget for learning, not for using the entire mountain
The first turn of a ski holiday happens on a carpet lift at the bottom of Peak 9. Breckenridge spreads across five peaks and nearly 3,000 acres, and it names exactly two learning areas: the Quicksilver carpets at the base of Peak 9 and the Rip's Ride carpets at the base of Peak 8. That is the whole map of a first trip. 2
The ticket covers everything else as well. It reaches Peak 6 and Peak 10, the steepest terrain the resort has, and the Imperial Express SuperChair on Peak 8, which Breckenridge bills as the highest chairlift in North America. Peak 7, the third base area, is intermediate and above. A first-timer buys all of it and rides two carpets. 8, 2
So price the learning first, then buy the access the learning needs. Breckenridge sells lift products by age and by day count, and every one of them on sale on 13 September 2026 opened the same mountain. No ticket costs less for staying on the green runs. Breckenridge is the worked example here because it publishes its prices; the order holds at any resort, and only the numbers change. 1
How much should ski lessons cost in your budget?
Breckenridge's published online prices for its group beginner lessons, read on 13 September 2026. Each price buys instruction.
An adult half day of beginner instruction costs $191 online, and a full day costs $238. The half day is the product Breckenridge labels for adults brand new to skiing or snowboarding, 2.5 hours from a 12:30 p.m. start. The full day runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Breckenridge sells it for every level from first time to intermediate. 3, 7
| Lesson | Who it is for | 1 day (USD) | 2 days (USD) | 3 days (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adult First Time, half day PM (2.5 hours, 12:30 p.m.) | Adults brand new to skiing or snowboarding | 191 | sold as 1 day | sold as 1 day |
| Adult First Time to Intermediate, half day AM (2.5 hours, 9 a.m.) | Adults 15+, first time to intermediate | 191 | 345 | 498 |
| Adult First Time to Intermediate, full day (6 hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) | Adults 15+, first time to intermediate | 238 | 428 | 618 |
| Child First Time or Beginner, full day (6 hours, 9 a.m.) | Children ages 7-14 | 336 | 671 | 940 |
Ski and snowboard versions of each product carry the same online price. Epic Mountain Rewards prices for pass holders run lower: $152 for the adult half day, $494 for three adult full days. Prices include applicable fees as printed. Every figure here buys instruction; lift access and rental gear are separate purchases. 3
Buying the days together pays. Three adult full days booked as one lesson cost $618, against $714 for the same three days bought one at a time. Breckenridge prices every day after the first at $190, and markets the offer as book multiple lesson days in a row and save 20%. That $190 lands 20.2% under the $238 single-day rate. Those days run consecutively. 3
Table view: Three days of group lessons, three products at one resort
| Item | Value (USD) |
|---|---|
| Child 7-14, full day | $940 |
| Adult, full day | $618 |
| Adult, half day AM | $498 |
The child's three days cost $322 more than the adult's, and lunch comes with a full-day child lesson. Adult lessons of every length ask you to bring or buy your own. Source: 3, 7
One day at $238 tests whether you enjoy the sport. Three days at $618 buys the progression the resort measures its own guarantee against. For a first trip with a week to spend, the three-day full-day group lesson is the line to build everything else around. 3, 6
What lift access do you need for a beginner lesson?
The lift products Breckenridge sold on 13 September 2026, what each one locks in, and the day count where a pass overtakes day tickets.
Budget the full lift ticket beside the lesson. The group-lesson checkout offers discounted tickets and rentals and shows the discount only when you reach it, so count the whole ticket now and treat whatever comes off as money back. 3, 6

| Product | Days | Adult (USD) | Child 5-12 (USD) | What it locks in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lift ticket, bought online in advance | 1, for 6 November 2026 | 153 | 99 | One resort, one named date, refundable if unused |
| Lift ticket, bought same day at the window | 1, for 6 November 2026 | 180 | 117 | One resort, one named date |
| Epic 1-Day Pass (Restricted) | 1 | 144 | not shown | Bought before the season, holidays excluded at this tier |
| Epic Day Pass | 4 | 471 | 245 | Any 4 days in the season, 38 other mountains included |
| Epic Day Pass | 7 | 701 | 367 | Any 7 days in the season, 38 other mountains included |
The day ticket bands adults 13-64 and the two Epic passes band adults 13+, while the day ticket and the Epic Day Pass band children 5-12. Other ages sit under Additional Ages on the ticket page. The 6 November 2026 prices are for that date only, and Breckenridge prices each date on its own. Epic Day Pass days can fall on any dates and at any resort in the group. Peak-date access adds $85 at the 4-day tier and $128 at the 7-day tier as printed. Both pages print the line prices include applicable fees; neither breaks out Colorado sales tax. 1, 4
Table view: Three day counts: online day tickets against the Epic Day Pass
| Item | Day tickets (USD) | Epic Day Pass (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | $153 | $144 |
| 4 days | $612 | $471 |
| 7 days | $1,071 | $701 |
The ticket column multiplies one date's online price, and every date is priced on its own; the pass column is a flat pre-season total. The gap widens with the day count: $9 at one day, $141 at four, $370 at seven. The one-day pass figure is the Epic 1-Day Pass (Restricted). Source: 1, 4
Here is the number that decides a first trip. Four days on the Epic Day Pass cost $471. Three single-day tickets at the 6 November online price cost $459. Twelve dollars buys a fourth day on the mountain, which is the day you practice what three lessons taught you. 4, 1
The trade is flexibility. Breckenridge refunds an unused lift ticket when you ask by 5 p.m. mountain time on the ticket's last valid day. The Epic Day Pass is sold ahead of the season and is non-refundable. Buy the pass once your dates are firm, and count your ski days first with the ski pass break-even worksheet. 1, 5
Two things move those totals. The pass page said on 22 September 2026 that pass prices go up on 7 October, and Breckenridge caps how many lift tickets it sells for each day. 4, 1
Should you rent or buy ski equipment?
Rent for the first trip, because the first trip is how you learn what fits. Breckenridge's rental arm names its beginner ski package Sport Skis and describes it as forgiving and flexible for someone building confidence. Performance Skis and Demo Skis are the tiers above it, sold to people who already know what they want. 9

The rental price appears only once you book. Breckenridge's equipment pages describe each package and hold the price back until you choose dates and gear, so a quote is a phone call or a started booking away. Breck Sports offers a custom foot assessment and boot modifications through the trip, worth asking about at the same time as the helmet. 9, 10
Helmets are required for every lesson participant under 18 and encouraged for adults. Shops add one to a rental order or rent it alone. 7
Pick the shop by the walk. Breck Sports lists eight shops, from Main Street and Peak 8 to Crystal Peak, The Maggie, two at Beaver Run, Hotel Alpenrock and a Burton store. It also lists overnight storage and complimentary delivery and pickup at your lodging. Either one gets back the hour that pickup morning costs, because collecting gear asks you to arrive 60 minutes before the lesson starts. 10, 7
Breckenridge's first-timer guide lists what to bring before you shop for anything: 8
- Winter boots or shoes with good tread, for the walk to the meeting point.
- A waterproof jacket and waterproof pants, over warm layers.
- Goggles and sunglasses, plus sunscreen, lip balm and moisturizer.
- A winter hat, and gloves or mittens.
- A water bottle, hand warmers, and your medical records, insurance cards and prescriptions.
Owning boots changes the arithmetic from the second season on, once you know your size and your preference. Ski rental vs buying runs those numbers across a few seasons.
Build a complete first-trip cost example
One adult and one child, three lesson days and a fourth day to practice, priced from Breckenridge's pages on 13 September 2026.
Three full days of lessons and four days of lift access come to $1,089 for one adult. That total holds two published lines: instruction at $618 and mountain access at $471, at the online prices Breckenridge showed on 13 September 2026, with applicable fees included as printed. Rental gear, lodging, flights, food and clothing sit outside it. 3, 4
| Line | What you buy | Adult (USD) | Child 7-12 (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group lessons, full day | 3 consecutive days, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | 618 | 940 |
| Lift access, Epic Day Pass | 4 days, any dates in the season | 471 | 245 |
| Rental equipment | A quote from the shop for your dates | your quote | your quote |
| Lodging, travel, food, clothing | Priced away from the resort's pages | your quotes | your quotes |
| Published lines only | 3 lesson days, 4 ski days | 1,089 | 1,185 |
Both columns hold three consecutive full-day group lessons and a 4-day Epic Day Pass. The bands do not line up: Breckenridge's lesson prices treat ages 7-14 as a child, and its lift prices treat ages 5-12 as a child. A 13- or 14-year-old pays the $940 child lesson and the $471 adult pass, which is $1,411, or $352.75 a ski day. Lunch comes with the child's full day, and adults bring their own. Spread across four ski days, the adult total is $272.25 a day and the 7-12 total is $296.25. Prices include applicable fees as printed, and neither page breaks out Colorado sales tax. 3, 4, 7
A child aged 7-12 costs $96 more than an adult, and a 13- or 14-year-old costs $322 more. The lift bands are why: a child stops being a child for lift access at 13, four years before the lesson desk agrees. Three full days of lessons run $940 for a child against $618 for an adult, while four days of lift access cost $245 for a child aged 5-12 against $471 for an adult. 3, 4, 7
Your ski dates move a day ticket far more than the pass. The $471 four-day pass is a flat pre-season price, and peak-date access adds $85 at four days. A one-day ticket bought online costs $153 for 6 November, and Breckenridge puts this season's highest price for a one-day ticket bought seven days ahead at $299. Peak season against shoulder season shows what the calendar alone does to a ski bill. 1, 4
Choose accommodation by your lesson location
Breckenridge has three base areas, and two of them hold beginner terrain. Peak 9 carries the Quicksilver learning area and the Quicksilver SuperChair, which keeps riders inside the beginner area on easy green runs. Peak 8 carries the Rip's Ride learning area and the chairlift that reaches beginner terrain fastest from that side. 2, 11
Peak 9 sits at the town end of the resort, and Breckenridge describes its learning areas there as mellow and close to downtown. Book a bed on the side of town where your lesson meets and the first morning becomes a walk. 11
8 a.m., collect the gear
Breckenridge asks guests picking up rental gear to arrive 60 minutes before the lesson starts. Collect it the afternoon before where the shop allows, and this hour disappears from the morning. 7
8:30 a.m., check in at the meeting point
Every participant checks in at least 30 minutes before the start time, at the meeting point the booking names. Adult lessons can meet at more than one spot (the first-timer half day lists Peak 8, the Village and Beaver Run), so confirm yours when you book. 7, 3
A group with mixed levels can still share one apartment. The confident skier starts from Peak 7 or Peak 8 while the first-timer walks to Quicksilver at Peak 9. Car-free ski trips compares transfers with a rental car, and seasonal ski housing covers deposits and minimum stays once the trip runs longer than a week. 2
Leave room for rest and travel days
Breckenridge sits at 9,600 feet, and its advice to first-time visitors is to drink lots of water and take it easy at first. Give the altitude your arrival day, and start the first lesson the morning after you arrive. 8, 2
Multi-day lessons run on consecutive dates. Breckenridge requires it, so a rest day in the middle turns one booking into two. Rest after the last lesson instead. The fourth pass day waits for you, because Epic Day Pass days can fall on any dates in the season. 3, 4
On the mountain itself, the National Ski Areas Association's Responsibility Code is the common framework at US ski areas, in the ten-point version it published in 2022. It opens with the line to memorize before a first lesson: always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid people or objects. The 2022 revision added a point asking anyone in a collision to share contact information with the other person and a ski area employee. 12
Group or private instruction for beginners?
A group place carries a published price; a private lesson is a quote. Breckenridge prints an online rate beside every group lesson it sells. Beside its private lessons it prints durations and nothing else. 3
Group lessons are priced per person, so party size changes the total and the rate stays put. Three adults in the full-day group lesson pay $238 each, $714 for the party. Ask the ski school for a private rate and a party limit for your dates before you compare. 3
| What you compare | Group lesson | Private lesson |
|---|---|---|
| Published online price | $191 adult half day, $238 adult full day, $336 child full day | Not published on the lesson listing |
| Three adults, one full day | $714, at $238 each | One booking, and the rate comes from the ski school |
| Published duration | 2.5 hours half day, 6 hours full day | 3 hours half day, 6.5 hours full day |
| Green Run Guarantee | Full-day First Time or Beginner, ages 7-14 and 15+ | Outside the offer |
Group prices are Breckenridge's online rates read on 13 September 2026 and buy instruction only; lift access and rental gear are separate purchases. The resort publishes durations for its private lessons and holds the rate until you ask. 3, 6
For a first trip, the full-day group lesson is the product the guarantee covers and the one the resort prices for three consecutive days at $618. Book a private lesson when the pace or the schedule has to bend around one person. Private against group ski lessons lays out the booking conditions that come with each. 3, 6
Frequently asked questions
Do beginner lift passes cost less than regular passes?
At Breckenridge they cost the same. Every lift product on sale on 13 September 2026 was priced by age and by day count, from one day to seven: the single-day ticket bands adults 13-64, the Epic Day Pass and the Epic 1-Day Pass band adults 13+, and children are 5-12 on the day ticket and the Epic Day Pass. A first-timer's ticket opens the same five peaks as an expert's. The saving a beginner can reach is the pre-season Epic Day Pass, at $471 for four adult days. 1, 4
Is there one package that bundles the lesson, the ticket and the gear?
Breckenridge sells the lesson on its own, then offers discounted lift tickets and rentals inside the group-lesson checkout. The resort names the discount but shows its size only at checkout. Plan with the full lesson price plus the full ticket price, and treat whatever the checkout takes off as money returned. 3, 6
Can I use ordinary winter clothing for skiing?
Most of Breckenridge's packing list is clothing you can own or borrow: winter boots with good tread, warm layers, a hat, gloves or mittens, sunglasses, sunscreen and a water bottle. The ski-specific purchases on that list are the waterproof jacket and pants, and the goggles. Skis, boots and a helmet come from the rental shop. 8, 7
What happens if weather closes the mountain on a lesson day?
Breckenridge publishes no weather policy for its lessons, so that answer comes from the ski school at booking. What the resort does publish decides the rest of the day. Lift tickets carry a refund right, with the request due by 5 p.m. mountain time on the ticket's last valid day. Epic Day Passes are non-refundable. Put the lessons early in the trip so a lost day has somewhere to move. 3, 1, 5
Do Epic Day Pass days have to be used at Breckenridge?
The days travel. Breckenridge markets the pass as 1 to 7 days locked in before the season and used whenever and wherever you like, across 38 other mountains in the same family, with partner access added from four days up. The days can fall on any dates and split across resorts. Peak-date access costs $85 more at four days and $128 more at seven. 4
How early do I need to arrive on lesson day?
Sixty minutes before the start if you are picking up rental gear, and 30 minutes before to check in. For a 9 a.m. full-day lesson that means gear at 8 a.m. and check-in at 8:30 a.m. Collecting gear the afternoon before removes the first hour. A parent stays with a child until check-in finishes and remains on the premises during the lesson. 7
How many lesson days does a first-timer need?
Breckenridge answers with a guarantee instead of a timetable: reach a qualifying green run by the third lesson, or the fourth lesson is free, on full-day First Time or Beginner group lessons for children ages 7-14 and adults 15+. Three consecutive adult full days cost $618 online. Progress differs by person, and three days is the number the resort stands behind. 6, 3
What does a first ski trip cost for a child?
Three consecutive full days of the child First Time or Beginner lesson cost $940 online for ages 7-14, and a 4-day Epic Day Pass costs $245 for a child aged 5-12. For a 7- to 12-year-old that is $1,185, or $296.25 a ski day. A 13- or 14-year-old takes the same lesson but pays the adult lift price of $471, which brings the two lines to $1,411. Lunch comes with the child's full day, helmets are required under 18, and a parent stays through check-in and on the premises during the lesson. 3, 4, 7
